ok if im in 2nd with low rpms and punch it, the car lags to **** until around 3500. anyone know what it could be?

 

Well defining what is the problem is very hard when you do not tell us what motor and transmission and model and make you have. Also try and use the search function as much as possible to keep from covering old topics over again, Also read the terms of service and follow them.

my car is a 97 accord lx (canadian model) with the f22b2 motor and 5spd tranny. sometimes it does this even when revs are higher..like the power comes and goes kinda thing.
oh and btw I already searched and couldnt find anything similar.

 

when was your last scheduled service? how many kms? oops i mean miles..
Sounds to me your fuel filter might need replacing... I had this sort of effect after changing the filter, the car was much more responsive

low fuel pressure

bad MAF seonsor

fuel filter is definantely possible. could someone explain to me what a map sensor is and how I can tell if thats the problem?

 

maf = mass air flow sensor. I am not sure what variation that the accord uses but this sensor determines the volume of air entering into the engine........ sometimes they get cloged with debris and you can clean them with intake cleaner to cure the problem otherwise you will have to shell out about $75 to replace it.

Mine does the Same thing, 2nd gear only and at low rpms, it sort of studders like it really doesnt want to accelerate.
