Default One more thing > What's the deal with MSD SCI Ignition?

I've got a buddy who swears by all MSD Ignition parts. Plugs, wires, dist. caps, whatever. I just wanted to know whatothers thought about it because my car kicks his car's *** all the time we race. Should I added an MSD Ignition to my system? What do you guys think???

Depends on the mods on your car.

SCI just charges extra money for more features.
The MSD 6A does the job and is inexpensive.
But unless you are using a turbo, i wouldnt worry about it.

i have a 6al MSD box its the same as a SCI, it adds a sof touch revlimiter which is nice.... and it lets you adjust the timing, if you get the jumper that lets you do it, it also makes for better spark, i saw a substancial increase in throttle response, and gas mileage, and smoothness

but i paid 90 bucks with coil so

Wires will do nothing for your car unless yours are leaking, though I know many people change them for cosmetic reasons. You should change your plugs if yours are worn out or if the car is starting hard. Don't bother with the ignition system module unless you're running boost or an extreme NA setup.

I am confused by this statement. What do you mean by leaking wires?

I mean cut, torn, cracked, or burned insulation that allows the energy that is supposed to be going through your spark plugs to "leak" out and discharge to the block. There are several styles of testers for this, generally you pass them along the length of each wire and if/when a leak is detected the instrument lights up. Generally however you can tell if you want to replace them via a visual inspection.
