HELP! Swaping my motor and need help with axles
I have a 1991 crx and I am putting a zc in it. The zc has a 1989 crx si tranny on it. I bought 1989 axles. Will these work.. I tried put in them in and they only go about aboul 2/3 of the way into the hub. Do i need diffrent axles or hubs.
Or simple will some grease do the job.. Please help ASAP.

if they're the right axels for the tranny it should work. i've done a couple trannies and can tell you that it takes a good push or soft tap from a rubber mallet to seat the axles in the tranny. you've got to get the ring on the spline to pop into it's groove inside the tranny.
count splines on axle and hub https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=202707

what i don't understand is that the axle will start to go in and then it will stop... I really dont want to pound it thou. Any suggestions.
Take a triangle file and dress each spline root. If they are remaufactured axles they are shot peened to clean them up. This shot peening sometimes makes them hard to install due flateneing of the splines. A couple of strokes each will usually remove enough material to make the fit a slide fit as opposed to an interference fit. I usually trial fit the out board end of the axle from the out side of the hub first as it is easier to get it out if more material needs to be removed. Hope this helps!
