i did a search and got different opinions and some people had block guards and other stuff. i like to know how much boost can a BONE stock b16a internals handle? bone stock meaning, no block guard, no head gasket to lower compression, as in bone stock internals.

the shop from where i live, who sold me my turbo said that i should only boost up to 7psi intercooled, then he showed me a bent rod from a b16 boosting 9psi.

i know tuning has something to do with it but i like to know what's the usual tolerance of the stock internals granting everything is well tuned coz as boost gets higher even if it's well tuned the pressure inside the combustion becomes greater.

lastly, how much boost can you safely run with a vafc hack, i know it shouldn't be greater than 11psi coz that's the limit of the map sensor? how bout 9psi or 10psi?

any info will be appreciated.

 

stock ecu= 7psi is safe. 8psi you're pushing it.

AFC hack with some injectors = 9-10 psi max.

 

I would like to know the answer to the question myself.

I have seen plenty of people running 8-10 psi daily on a stock b16a2. this is with a higher volume fuel pump, 440cc injectors(60 psi of fuel pressure), and hondata. The main thing I heard is to just get the car hooked up to a wideband 02 sensor and keep the a/f ratio around 12.3:1, another thing i've seen is to retard the timing .5 per pound of boost. I'm going to be a boost newbie myself soon

Hopefully you'll get some more posts from people who are actually running a similar setup.

I'll be joining the darkside pretty soon here too and I will pretty much be running the same setup. From what I've seen on this board 8-10 psi is what most people consider somewhat safe. That's with the appropriate tuning of course.

 

if jinxproof's b18c can handle 20+psi stock internal with only inline headgasket

so b16a shud be similar then

I got a b16 myself but i am gonna wait and buy everything and put it all on at the same time. I am gonna cop internals, turbo kit, injectors, and hondata. I just want everything done all at once and get the b16 runnin right. all i am waitin for is my tax return. lookin for 10-12 psi daily driver.

to answer your question. Your motor "completely" stock can handle 7psi after that your pushing your buttons. The bottom end will not haold up to mouch more than that...........B16 of coruse. If your looking completely and want your motor to last stick with no more than 7. I have a standalone system but my motor is stock, and i know i can boost more but i still want to keep the life of my motor so i wont. From my knowledge a stock honda engine can handle 40 to 50% more horsepower. So......160 40% of that is 60 more horsepower. Most engines can handle that much more and that much only. Now im not saying it can't be done because i know a lot of poeple who do it, I'm just answering the question of most normal honda motors.

For you guys running stock b16 setups with 10 psi with no problems, what xactly is your fuel setup? and how big of a turbo are you running?

 

i have a bone stock b16 sir1 and im running 6-7psi

its all about your fuel and tunning. if u run a stock b16 with no added fuel or anything itl blow at like 3psi. i running the smc+ and dsm 450cc injectors. also i have a msd btm for my timming. i just bought a wide band o2 sensor with equipment and it has dataloging abilities so i will be street tunning for 8psi and 10-12 for the track. ive been told 8psi is as high as u want to go on pump gas so if u run 7 you will be fine
