My 2g aint starting. the thing cranks and cranks and cranks. doesnt turn over for its ***. it ran rough for about 3 minutes, like felt like it was skipping a beat, but im not sure if that is because its colder than a **** out there. its gotta be like -3, actaully according to my thermometer, its 3* out. but i know my car was low on gas, so i put some in it, and it still just cranks. the fuel pump enguages, i hear it pressurizing. it does turn off, so its not like its not getting gas i gues, unless it has its own time limit. i didnt check for spark, my hands are cubes right about now. any suggestions? it almost sounded like the timing skipped a beat, but lets not all dwell on that and just point the finger.

 

Maybe your fuel pressure regulator is bad? When mine went, there was a strong smell of gas, and the car would just crank. Just a thought, or maybe something with the distributor.

 

how filled is your tank? if it's under a quarter try putting more gas in... to about half way maybe

 

yes the gas is below 1/4, and im pretty sure teh distro is fine, i just drove it to, and then back from albany today with no problems. 1:30 each way i dont get it. i park it, i wanna go out, and it starts rough, idles nasty, and then stalls. then it wont start. then i get to my first post.. the cranking and whatnot.

 

once you warm your hands up and get a chance to check for spark that'll help. there's lots of ways a distributor can go bad.........have you changed the cap and rotor recently (or when it was due)? I've learned to make sure if you don't have a receipt when you buy the car, do it yourself. I lost a coil and ICM because she said she changed 'em at her last service, but lo and behold the cap and rotor were gone, which made the coil and ICM have to work harder to get the spark out and therefore killed the coil. I was on the road, drivin to work (bout a half hour already), and then bam. Sputtered and died. wouldn't start anymore. replaced cap, rotor, coil, and icm and it worked great.

 

frozen gas line was the problem.
