Default GSR block on B16 head

I was wondering what modifications, if any, would I hve to do to make this work. My idea is to get a full B16 swap, then get a GSR block.

Why you ask?

Well first off B16 already has a closer geared tranny, and why get bother spending more money on a GSR motor when I'm going to do headwork anyway? Hope that didn't confuse anyone.

What timing belt and oil/water pump will I have to use?

Thanks, much .

Thanks for the comment. I did consider it but I rather keep it as OEM as possible, and a non VTEC block on a VTEC head doesnt seem like a good idea to me because I always hear about sleeves cracking and the block isn't meant to rev as high yadda yadda.

timing belt ud have to use a gsr/type r becasue the b16 one would be too short.

water pump oil pump either gsr or itr will work also.

everything else should bolt right up

just re,ber you get a pretty low comrpession ratio when you do that becuase of the GSRs pistons

Isnt there a lot of people that put the B16a head on the B18C block? Sounds like a good idea to me. Should create some nice numbers. Give it a shot.

sleeves crack on the b20 cause they suck. don't you mean b16 head on a gs-r block?

Yea, after I made the post I was like wait a minute..ahh well you people know what i mean lol.

Anyway thanks for the responces. I plan on using the B16 pistons for a higher compression ratio(PR3 right?). Does the GSR block have extra sensors hanging out?

I can use my stock B16 ECU with no problems right? Or would I run lean(1.8 displacement)?

Thanks again.

No you want Civic Type R pistons (B16b) not B16a

i have the same set up.

gsr block, ctr piston
itr head with valve train, gsr cams.
with prelude injectors. 190 cc
everything else is stock.
CR: is 11.8:1
hspwer with gsr cams is 165 hp and 119 tq.
with vafc vtec is at 5300 rpm.

b16 head will yeild a lower compression it is aprox .3 less than the gsr head.
if you are going all motor the gsr head will be better for high compression.

i am in process of buying some ctr cams, i'll dyno it and let you guys konw what to expect with this set up.

I know that but I'm poor and the stock SI pistons will yield higher compression than GSR ones.

Thanks though.

why would you even think that would work ?

here let me spell it out for you - any B series VTEC pump will work...

First off I was kidding, I guess I forgot the smiley.

Second if H22 injectors will work, hmm maybe other H22 parts will?

i'm very sorry for a noob queston.

But whats the differnce in compression, is lower compression good or is higher compression good.

I plan on going all motor, but i don't want to go crazy on the engine too.

higher compression is better for allmotor.
i would say a safe compression on pump gas, octan 91 or 93
would be anywhere from stock - 11.8
closer to 12.1 cr is risky.
this is all my opinion. i think other feel that this may be too high or not high enough
