NEED HELP with suspension, experts please
car is a 95 gsr with eibach sportlines(1.8 inch drop) eibach allignment/camber kit , and tokico blue gas shocks. My problem is that the sidewall on the tires in back are always rubbing on the inside of the fenders, when i turn hard or accelerate
I'm thinking that maybe the shocks just plain suck and i need to upgrade to some koni yellows and make them stiffer. im just looking for people to throw some ideas out at me. heres what im thinking......( by the way , i have 2 to 3 fingers of clearance in back for each tire and none in front and the back only rubs, so i dont get it
keep the springs and just get some koni yellows and stiffen them?
get some tein ss and sell my springs? ive heard good and bad things about tein
i personally like the ride height on my car and i just dont want it to rub when i turn hard or have a passenger in the car and basically do anything. any help is appreciated THANKS

What size wheels are you running?
I had Sportlines before (with 205/50/15's) and the sizewall of the tire wasn't even close to rubbing. One thing to check is the condition of your LTA and LCA bushings, if they are shot, that can cause the rear end to move around enough to cause rubbing.

I also have 205/50-15 tires on stock rims, and the rear tires do not ever touch the fender throughout the whole range of suspension travel. Is it rubbing the edge of the fender, or is it rubbing up inside the fender? Check the width and offset of your wheels, and the size of your tires. Koni shocks will not help your problem, because those adjust rebound only, not compression.
Yeah, it sounds like a wheel size or offset problem. Like the man said the yellows won't help with this problem. At your height in the back you shouldn't have any problems. Even with soft springs you shouldn't be rubbing.
I had Eibach Sportlines on my 95 along w/ Koni Sport/Yellows... I've had that setup w/ the stock 95 GSR rims and also w/ 16" SSR's... I have also tried putting on my Civics 16" 5Zigens on the GSR and it didn't have the rubbing issue that you have.. I also had the weight of a stereo system in the back...
its probably either your shocks or the offset of the rims or the tire size if your rims and tires aren't stock... otherwise I don't know cuz I didn't encounter rubbing of the back tires

they are 16 inch 42mm offset, adn im using 215/45s the reason is becuase thats all i could get by falken in 16, yeah i agree on the camber kit thing, but i have no idea how to remove it. my point is that i have some wheel gap in back and even if the tires are kinda wide it shouldnt rub if i had stiffer shocks right?
I have a camber kit installed too so that could be the problem!! lets keep this post alive though

Your tires are not the right size for starters. You need 205/45-16's. Have they rubbed ever since you put them on. Try borrowing someone elses wheels/tires in the correct size and see if that fixes it. You probably need a 38 or 40 offset. With a different offset you might be ok with the tires you have or you could keep the wheels and get the correct size tires.
i dont mean to call you out on this one but i think you might be wrong.
i would need an offset of 45 or more to stop the rubbing the width of tire really wouldnt change it since it rubs the inside of the fender. i could go to a 205/40 but it might look bad, i dont know yet, im just confused

Well Azenis are wider than most tires of the same size in the first place, so that could be one reason why. A camber kit that pushes the tops of the tires out, combined with the wider tire width is most likely your problem. Shocks will probably not make much of a difference if any at all. When I put 205/50-16 tires on 16x7 +35 offset wheels on my old Camry, I had a problem with it scraping the rear fender edge when I would turn, both on stock 4x4 suspension and after it was lowered. Suspension didn't make a difference, it was mainly the wheel offset (+35 was stock offset for the stock 14x5 steelies). However I bent the fender lip up slightly and I never had any problems again.
yeah i was thinking of the doing the fender lip thing but my dad keeps telling me its not going to make a difference and plus i cant find anyone that can do it.
how about if i just get some 205/40 in back instead of the 215/45 im running now?
