just yesterday, someone fucked up my front end pretty bad. I'm pretty low on the cash flow and i think i need hardcore repairs. I think i can see faint red chips off the other car. How the hell do i report this and what not? obviously, i called the cops already, but wtf are they going to take care of the hit and run?

You are out of luck... call your insurance company.

 

That is one of the main reasons I have insurance with low deductibles.

If type r's came with those wheels id shoot myself, ok back to your subject.. ouch sorry to hear that man, best thing you can do is call insurance and give them ur insident report # from the police. insurance will fix it.. but im not sure if ur insureance will raise or not. + ur ganna have to pay your deductable. Collision on your insurance covers hit and run. Hope your deductible isn't too high.

 

1st Make sure you report this to the Police.

2nd Contact your insurance company, (THATS WHAT INSURANCE IS FOR!)

3rd Take pictures and save them for your records (if not already done so.)

4th Your insurance SHOULD provide for a rental car while the damage is being fixed and the settlement made. Read and Reread the policy so you understand your coverage and rights and provisions. (Too many times people don't even know how their insurance company even works, or what their coverage really is, or what they are entitled to.) You pay for it, USE it.

5th Get a Copy of the Police Accident or Incident report (name of report may vary from area to area) and keep it in a safe place for the future with the pictures, (start a file for it all and keep it all together and organized.)

It's a sucky process, the insurance claim and settlement process. But, again, You pay for it so, Use it!

And if you don't have coverage that encompasses this type of incident, then your up Chits creek, and will have to fix it all out of pocket.
