It is only during the build up to the Daytona 500. We will get regular programming back after the race - Nascar will be the focus 1 or 2 nights a week.

I have my reasons (probably the same as everyone else on this board) for hating NASCAR but strangely I wanted to look at the otherside and I've always wondered what exactly is the fascination with driving around in circles.. i'm in no way trying to be sarcastic, but I've always wondered this..

 

Believe me, I felt this same way until I raced at Lowes in Charlotte. Truth be told, I'm still not a fan of NASCAR, but I definitely have a lot of respect for the drivers.

most people can only grasp a circle , the average person doesnt even begin to understand the line of a track , brake zones , turn in , etc.

plus its a rolling billboard for huge american companies , people can identify with them.

they are american cars with american sponsors in a circle which is easy to digest to the common man.

I dont think we're elitists we simply know more than just circles , no doubt in my mind that 200 mph bump drafting is awesome , its just not something I want to watch.

 

See, this is different though. There's no doubt in my mind that it requires skill, I'm only questioning the spectator part of the sport.

It's over, and it was boring, I heard. So how come it's been nothing but NASCAR all week again? Thursday is the only day with alternative programming in the pm, but only for an hour.

 

If I wanted to watch people go around in circles, I'd freaking nail someones left foot to the floor... bout as exciting... and noisy...

 

Bike racing is on Tuesdays. And Saturdays have a lot of other racing series including CART qualifying (and the CART race on Sundays)

yea i think nascar is soo boring , i want my gt2 , suber bike and WRC , kart , F1 is nice too , i want my motor trend tv and all those shows showing off all the nice super cars out there , i dont see much of that now , damn comcast ( owns , bought speed vision and mtv and nickoloden , vh1 and such)

I just don't understand the NASCAR craze. It makes no sense to me whatsoever. To top off already boring races, they have that dumb hick announcer: "Check it out down dere Dee-Dubya! Dey goin' tree wide agin!" God, DW this, DW that.

I would love to. That said, driving one of those cars and watching them is two entirely different things. TOTALLY different.

 

CRASHCAR is cool in my book. Im not down with hillbillies but hillbillies driving 190mph rubbin paint gets a from me.
