Default Another "My engine won't start" thread...

So we swapped a JDM B16 into my 93 Hatchback.

Couple of odd things, I used a 92-95 EX wiring harness for all the VTEC stuff and had 2 extra plugs, one behind the engine and one at the passenger shock tower. Anyone know what these are for?

The engine is getting fuel. We pulled the plugs and they were CORRODED to all hell. Really bad. So we pulled the old plugs out of the stock d15 and still nothing. Popped open the rotor and it looks very clean. We checked all the grounds (Transmission, Thermostat and Head/Valve Cover grounds) and all connections are good. No blown fuses. The car throws a check engine code, although it is probably because I have not wired up the VTEC sensors from the shock tower to the ECU.

Any ideas or suggestions??
I'm clueless. This is my first swap and everything has gone well up until now...

Thanks~

if you're car doesn't start, its either not getting fuel, spark, or in some simple cases the starter isn't working.

now, you've determined that the car is getting fuel.

are you getting spark?

i'd wire vtec, and then try over again, that way you can check the codes and know that you've wired everything, so there is one less problem that you need to fix.

what distributor are you using?

what ecu are you using?

what motor is it exactly?

if you're using a obd1 wiring harness, and obd1 distributor, and the wiring harness is complete everything from the ex harness will plug into the motor. you'll need to add a wire for the knock sensor...and you'll need to add two other wires for vtec, but that is all the wiring you'll need to do.

i'm guessing you have a problem with the wiring, spark plugs, or a problem with the distributor...or plug wires.

if i were you, i'd be using new or almost new plug wires, new spark plugs, and a distributor thats in good shape, and one that has a new cap and rotor.

good luck...just be more specific about your problems.

P30 ECU

the engine is a JDM B16A. OBD 1.

Everything is OBD 1.

I have replaced the spark plugs from ones that I know work. No dice. Cap and rotor look clean as well. I am going to check for spark in a minute here and see if thats the problem. Hopefully it isn't.

The wiring harness is from a 92-95 Civic EX. My car has no power steering, air conditioning, or cruise control. I believe this to be the reason for the extra plugs, however I'm not sure.

I will go check for spark and post back.. thanks for the help
