Default Swapped in another engine, now it wont start. Ugh.

I got the other engine in.

Wont start. Y7 (same engine that was in there) into a 98 LX. Drove it into the garage w/old engine.

Here is what I have checked so far:

Compression the same across all. (my gauge reads low I am pretty sure but they were all the same)

Plugs are wet so I know it is getting fuel

Checked cam and crank timing. Cam gear is in the UP position and piston moves to TDC
CPS is hooked up.

Hooked up the spark plugs to plugs and sat them on the windshield - got spark

Checked the cap and rotor and wires and they were all good.

Dizzy is on correctly.

T stat ground is on
Valve Cover ground is on
Tranny ground is on

MAP and TPS are not switched - I tired to switch them but the harness doesn't let you.

I am just baffled because I started the car and drove it into the garage so I know the components run and work like they should.

I don't have the axles in, but that shouldn't matter.

Checked fuses even though the first thing I did was unhook the batter after I pulled in the garage.

What next?

Is the CEL on? Does it work? Does it come on for ~2 seconds when you turn the key to ON(II), then turn off? What exactly is the compression across all four? Do the TDC marks on the crank pulley line up with the marker on the timing belt cover when the cam gear lines up? What color is the spark?

Yes. Yes. I am pretty sure my gauge reads low but it is the same on all 4 cyl. 90psi cold.

Timing marks line up.

Spark is orange.

What kind of "not starting"? if u know what i mean
does the starter kick?
or do you turn the key and it simply does nothing?

Being that he compression tested it, i would think the starter kicks.

90 is too low for combustion... try another compression test kit with a properly functioning gauge and see if your numbers are more like 170-180... that is what a healthy Y7 should make.

Get a compression gauge that doesn't read low, and repeat the test. Even cold, it shouldn't be that low. Test the coil and ICM. Orange spark won't light a yule log, let alone an engine.

Well, glad it's running, but orange spark still isn't healthy. It'd be a good idea to do the diagnostics I gave you and fix the problem before it leaves you stranded.
