how to wire jl 12w3 d2
there was a wire running from one input on the sub to the other and then the two wires running out to the terminal that the wires running from the amp hook up to

Read the manual. Look at the specs on your amp. Find what will work best for your system.

ok I need some good tech help with this....the JL site says that if the 12w3 d2 is wired in series then it will have a 4 ohm load
the amp I have until I get a new one is a rockford fosgate punch 150a2...not much power...bridged it will produce 150w X 1 at a 4 ohm load
Sooo....if I wire the sub in series then this will work ok for me ???

yeah with this kind of power I dont see it hitting super hard...shouldnt been too bad...I have two tens running off it now and they are pretty loud for such a little amp...I figure bridged to one 12 shouldnt be horrible until I get a new amp
Yeah it'll work. I am not sure how hard it will hit. I really doubt that fosgate is 1 ohm stable. Hooking it up in series is probably your best option right now.
To tell you the truth the main problem is that your sub is a dual 2 ohm voice coil. As you've noticed by now wiring a dual 4 ohm sub in parallel would give you 2 ohm which is good for a single sub setup. It allows you to get more power without buying really expensive equipment.

ummm I have the tens wired just the pos and neg from each channel on the amp going to the pos and neg on the sub dunno what kind ohm its running at...guessing that its only pushing 50 or 75 watts each sub
for the two tens I guess stereo....I have two lines of speaker wire running to each terminal in the back of my box
thats why I think it will hit ok once its bridged to the one 12

Yeah that is most likely run stereo.
It just depends. Ultimately you need to match the RMS values of each component of the system. For instance my amp which only puts out 400w wouldn't do that great of a job with a W7.
Try it and see what you think.

hey thanks again for all the info
yeah for now it will have to do...I'll be hooking it up 2nite so I'll find out what kinda sound I'll get
I think the JL 12w3 d2 has and rms of 250 watts...so I was thinking about maybe getting a jbl mono amp or a us acoustics amp
have a us acoustics powering my speakers and I think its a great amp for the money

ok checked the amp specs these are what I found
mono into 4 ohm 170 x 1
Per channel into 2 ohm 80 x 2
per channel into 4 ohm 60 x 2
so if its a JL 12w3 d2 which one would be the best to use ???
