An NSX and a radio: Dash bezel questions
For the past few weeks my girlfriend and I have been spending some quality time in autotrader or on ebay hunting down the specific car she wants. She’s decided upon a 93ish model simply for the fact its near mid production. However the underlying problem is the radio. We'd love to swap out the headunit in favor of fold out, however I have no idea how gaudy this would look. Can someone post some pictures of the NSX with an aftermarket radio? And where would one find such an adapter plate? Thanks for your time.
how about asking your local car stereo shop? And I dont mean circut city. I mean like a high quality car stereo shop. I bet they could help you alot with that
I just got my center console redone to look as close to OEM as possible with a aftermarket stereo. I'll take some pics tomorrow and load them up. Hopefully, you can wait until then. The center console part I bought was from www.scienceofspeed.com. It's a fiberglass piece that has to be cut to fit, specifically the A/C, shifter, emergency brake, ashtray, and the area for the head unit.
Here's what I had to do. 1) Buy the piece - $199 I believe. 2) Get it cut $140 - I took it to a stereo shop where a master dremel guy did it. I didn't trust myself with it. 3) Get my interior guy to match the color of OEM and have him paint it. Turned out he dyed it after wet sanding it. 4) Take it back to the stereo shop for a refit b/c the ashtray didn't have enough cut out. 5) Take it back to the interior shop for installation. That cost me $387. But I got a bunch of other stuff done too. In all, I'd guess I had $500 in it not counting the other stuff I had done. Nothing to sneeze at but it does look pretty good.

Heres an example of an extremely customized cut-out as well as some other details regarding the door speaker & sub-woofer upgrades.

If you're considering an NSX, check out http://www.nsxprime.com - it has answers for almost anything you would care to know about the NSX.

To have a fold-out unit like the Alpine CVA in the stock radio location is not the optimal solution as the display was not designed to be read at such an angle. Instead, get the JDM Nav pod or something like this

I didn't forget about ya. The head unit is some Eclipse model.

Here's what it looked like when I got it.

Chris at SOS has excellent customer service. Good guy to boot.
