Default EG5(=Civic Si) good basis for a swap?

Hi there,

i´ve got a little problem.

As you can see in my signature, I´ve actuallya 92 Del Sol VTEC

I want an EG6 (no, don´t flame me, in Germany we have the correct codes)

But good ones are very expensive and rare(they cost around 5 000 – 6 000 Euro).

Do you think I should get an EG5 (similar to your Civic Si) as a basis for a swap?
There wouldn´t be so many things to change, right?
or is a EG4 (=Civic DX) enough?

They cost around 2000 – 3000 for a 94 model. so I would have around 3000 left for a swap.

Thanks for your help

Both are fine candidates for a swap. The EG5 should come with more features if it is similar to our civic si, such as 4 wheel disk brakes and a sunroof. Due to the features it will also weigh more and thus be a bit slower when its all said and done. The dx is lighter but is more of a base model.

good eg6 are hard to find...

do eg5 and eg6 have the same brakes?

sounds like an easy swap... only change the engine?

damn yall had del sol VTEC models in 1992?

We didnt get the del sol till 1993, then we had to wait almost two years for the VTEC model.

the US sucks for automobile availability.....

If you're looking to compete, I'd say go with the DX, because it's lighter. I have an Si, and it's a tank! You'd be better off with something lightweight.

Pretty silly question if you ask me, you can get the 4dr and the hatch over here ( In Germany )with factory installed b16'2 for about half of what you said , look on mobile.de and search you'll find all kinds of them for cheap

no silly question

it´s hard to get one of those at mobile.de and it shouldn´t be a 92. 93 or up would be ok. and, i already have a b16a2 with ecu and so on...

looks like there aren´t big diff´s between the eg5 and eg6 except the interieur...
