What comes in a tranny gasket kit?
I just tore into my tranny (88 Integra 'CG' tranny):

I got this tranny from a local junkyard and I just wanted to make sure that nothing inside was broken. I haven't checked everything out yet, but so far, nothing is broken and the bearings are in good shape.
I can get a 'gasket kit' from Acura for $55. I am not sure what is included in this kit. I think it's all of the gaskets and seals.
Is there anything else I'll need? The manual says I should replace the lock nuts on the end of the main and countershafts...are those in the "gasket kit" ?
Thanks,
Sonny
Hondabond HT for the cases. No gaskets used there. Tranny only has a few seals. Axle seals, input shaft seal, shift shaft seal. No nuts in the "gasket" kit.
I am not sure about the newer trannies, but this tranny definitely has a gasket between the case halves. It also has a gasket on the "cover" that is removed to remove the locknuts from the mainshaft and countershaft.
So it sounds like the gasket kit has pretty much everything I need. The Helms says to replace the synchronizer springs in each synchro, but it doesn't look like they can be purchased without buying the whole synchro assembly.
Sonny
ive never seen the need to replace thesprings or the nuts.
as for the gaskets, you need those, 88+ trannies(i think) stopped using the
paper gaskets.

My mistake. Tranny does have gaskets. I can look up the synchros at work tomorrow; you usually have to get the whole gearset to get the synchros. Checked application for tranny gaskets. Integra manual transmissions used gaskets up until 1989. Synchros not available separately from Acura. Gear sets are: 23432-PG9-305, 23626-PC8-315, 23623-PC8-J00. Total Suggested retail on those sets is $680.21 !!!

Thanks for checking, man. I'm glad nothing is broken.
On the trannies that have gaskets, do you guys put a light amount of Hondabond on the mating surface of the case halves? It seems like it wouldn't hurt...
Thanks,
Sonny
