B17A1.. boost or NA??
I have a 93 GS-R that I am advertising for sale. I really like the car, but I wish I had a 3rd gen GS-R. All my friends are telling me to keep it and not sell it. So I'm considering keeping it, but if I do I don't know which route to go. I want to turbo it. I have an LS tranny in it now, cause my plans were to boost it. But I also have a set of Crower 63402A cams with Skunk2 cam gears that I could put in it. So I'm thinking.. should I get a header, Crower valvesprings and retainers, CTR pistons, upgrade my ecu, and get a B16 tranny; or leave the internals stock and turbo it? The NA route would be more economical, but would it be worth it? I'm thinking boost it, but I would like some opinions from some of you guys.
I say keep it, and have a built n/a blacksheep motor. I love my 92 GSR and I am going to be building it n/a. I have seen a couple of built 1.7's and they are quick!! What did you do with the YS1 tranny that came with the car?? If you still have is laying around somewhere, put it back on, if not, get a b16 trans and LSD, or if you want to get crazy, take the casing and put type R internals in it. They will fit with a lil grinding to the casing.
Well I bought the car without an engine. So as I was collecting parts, I bought an LS tranny instead of a GS-R tranny cause a) I was planning on doing turbo, and b) I couldn't find a cable GS-R tranny for a decent price.
Well the B17 is now in a 92 hatch, due to an old lady in an Oldsmobile crossing the path of my GSR. And now I'm pretty much set on boost too. I just never thought this motor would feel so much faster in a hatch.
