Default OEM keyless entry ??

i have a 96 ex coupe with keyless entry...about 2 months ago my battery in my remote went dead...i replaced it...then i had to reprogram the remote with the radio...the remote work for about 2-3 weeks..now for the past month the keyless entry wont work...ive bought 2 new remote and tried to reprogram these 2..when i program the remotes the door are getting the singal cuz they lock..then i take the key out of the ingnition and try to lock or unlock the doors and nothing happens..BTW i have a stock radio with OEM cd changer...i do have an SI deck laying around that i will prolly be putting in if i cant figure this out...
my ?? are:

1. could my problem be with my stock head unit??
2. could it be that i have gotten bad remotes??

TIA

late

ok..when i say the doors lock..i mean the locks clicks..the the lock on the door panel doesnt move..so the lock is getting the signal..but when i take the key out of the ingnition none of the keys work on the remote..

BTW when the key is in the ignition the only button that will transmit any type of signal is the lock button..the unlock wont do anything...

It might be a radio. I hate putting stereos in 96-98 civic with the factory keyless. At work, when we put in an aftermarket radio in one of these cars we just stuff the factory radio under the dash somwhere and leave it plugged in. This is the only way to switch out the radio, and still have the factory keyless entry.

Well it is the only way to put in an aftermarket radio in a 96-98 civic, and keep the factory keyless entry. Sorry to upset you.

he is correct about the keyless entry part.. honda was dumb as hell 96-98 i fits up behind the center console perfect and you use a t-harness so it still gets power.. nothing is hurt when this is done.. most customers dont even know its there unless we tell em
