EK rear disc brake conversion
I have a 97 Civic EX and my question is can i use a 4040 proportion valve from a RS integra or do i have to use a 99-00 civic SI one??? Also I heard from another post that the all 96-00 civics use the same porportion valve. Can someone confirm this with 100% accuracy. Thanks
I used the 99-00 si prop valve to do my conversion. I've *heard* that the dx prop valve is the same as the SI prop valve. You can always call the dealership and check part numbers on the models.

To keep things simple, the 99-00 Si valve is the way to go, it will bolt right up. I have heard from others using the integra valve, that the brake lines will not line up perfectly.

if you use a teg valve you will have to bend the hell out of the lines and it's all a crazy mess. if you have a 96-98 civic don't worry about it. it will all work just fine

They are not the same. You need the SI prop valve that says 40/40 on it.

Yes the 40/40 proportioning valve and booster are the same on the 99-00 Si and DX, the only difference is the MC the Si is a 7/8 and a the DX is a 13/16 which is only 1/16 smaller than the Si. I checked w/ my Honda dealership when I was doing my rear disc brake and they told me this info. Also there is no difference between the EX and Si brake system, all of the parts are the same except for rear disc brakes.
The 99-00 Si porp valve doesn't have a 40/40 stamp.
I used one off a 99 for my 96 CX and they looked identicle but had different stamps on them. Works great.

From what I found out at the dealership is that the 96-00 Ex has the same brake setup as the 99-00 Si except for the rear disc brakes. I mean the front calipers, rotors, MC, proportioning valve, booster, everything. Even the 99-00 DX or CX have the same proportioning valve and booster. Call your Honda dealership and ask for the part number they gave me a print out with the part numbers and they were the same, all I bought for my rear disc brake conversion for my Dx (other than of course the rear disc setup) was a used Si MC, and all of the lines lined up. But then again the MC, is only 1/16 smaller than the EX, or Si.
