What helemt to use for drag racing???
Can i just use a motorcycle helemt are is there a specif helmets i need to get?

I forget the actuall certifications it has to have, but most motorcycle helmets are fine. Kenny still uses his motorcycle helmet!

 

Snell95 minimum.

I believe most racers use the simpson helmets. that goes for almost all kinds of racing not drag racing only. i prefer my Arai motorcycle helmet though. its light and comfortable.

Unless I'm reading it incorrectly it says snell 90 is good all the way to 7.50"s and it can be open face.

I have a Bell helmet and its a snell 95.

 

I just hide mine behind the seat in the tech lanes (because its not snell certified) and then just throw it on when im running because they wont ask questions when your on the line.

 

Im not to sure where you race, but even the crappy tracks ive been at all check helmets. I think thats the one thing tech guys always do check. Rules are only there for your safety...you can buy a used up to date helmet for cheap if you cant afford a new one.

 

haha i used my houston texans baseball hat once and a football helmet..

 

i use a DOT motorcycle helmet.

Helmets are ****** EXPENSIVE. anyone know where i can get one for less than 100 bux thats snell 95 +

I have an open face that's snell 95. I was trying to figure out of open face is legal...anyone know?

 

according to the rulebook yes. unless you are going 7.49 or 7.99 and quicker.

 

it is legal to have an open face. The bummer part of John L. crashing his car was that he was wearing one and it might have hurt him a little more. I hear that he hit the steering wheel which was a real bummer.

Well I'm glad it's legal, the color of the helmet almost matches the car perfectly Plus it's almost brand new.
