how to break in new cams in your car
I like to run the motor for 20 minutes at 2500 rpms after install. This allows the oil to circulate properly and lets the cams soak in some oil and gets the seats worked in. You don't have to do this, but many people do, especially with new valvetrain. Just try to use assembly lube on install.
With the cams that I've installed on DSMs and Hondas it's been very similar as to whats been posted up above. Make SURE to lube the cam journals well before you install the cam. Then torque to spec and re-assemble the head, reinstall the timing belt.
Then start the car and have someone hold it steady anywhere from 2500 to 3000 rpm for 25-30 minutes.

heh, when there is a break in period, what exactly is "break in" like does this mean, wear the engine to a certain point. I never quite understood it. I love technical explanations
Just make sure you use JDM break-in oil
I hope you brought some back from Japan for me? My local supplier has run out and I need some ASAP.
PS- The Proper break-in procedure is: 1) install cams and torque everything down to recommended specs 2) Check to make sure there are no extra parts a) if extra parts, tow car to your nearest mechanic b) if no extra parts, go to step three 3) start car and drive
