Default whats the difference between late gen b16's?

difference between...

92-95 b16's (or just the gen before 99-00)
and
99-00 b16's

What im getting at is what would you have to change on a previous gen b16 to install it into an 00 civic?

92-95 b16a are OBD1 and JDM
99-00 b16a2 are OBD2 and USDM

you would have to convert the wiring to OBD1 to install the 92-95, and your car will never be emissions legal regardless of what you do to it (atleast in most states)

Im aware of the paper differences between the engines. One being obd1 and the other being obd2 but when it comes down to it what does that mean?

Im looking for specifics here. For instance could you remove a wiring harness from the 99-00 engine and it plug into every sensor of the earlier engine. Would there be extra plugs/not enough plugs for all sensors?

Thanks.

Well I know for the OBDI engines, you won't have a harness for a secondary O2 sensor. And the harnesses for the ECU will not be the same. Need an OBDII ECU? Check sig (this has been a shameless plug)

ok...

hrmmm...

I appreciate the responses but at risk of sounding like a cack these replies have only pointed out the obvious.

Let me rephrase the question...

What SPECIFICALLY would be required to put a 92-98 b16 (jdm or usdm) into a 2000 civic hatch?

To make it simple you would need to use an OBDII distributor and injectors. Swap in an OBDII oil pump so you will have the crank fluctuation sensor. Change the driver's side engine mount bracket to a 99-00 Si bracket. By using those parts and a 99-00 Si engine harness, you could install the motor into a 00 Civic using a 99-00 Si ECU without much trouble.

Thats IT?

Can i get an amen to that response?

If so...

Would a 99-00 si wiring harness work on an earlier b16?
