Default Knock Sensor

just did a mini me swap and i used a 98 ex wire harness with the 98ex vtec head into my 97 dx coupe. i couldnt get the car to start with the EX ecu on but i put the dx ecu on and it did. anyone know where i can get a knock sensor from? can anyone tell me what it does and why it prevents me from starting up with the ex ecu?

thanks

knock sensor senses your engine for pings and detonation...
your ex ecu shouldnt have a problem starting your engine without the ks...
itll give you a check engine light, but shouldnt stop you from starting your car....
you can get the ks from honda or from the people here, there about 100 bux from honda, but its cheaper on the board here...

i dont know what the heck is wrong otherwise. i figure it has to be the knock sensor since thats the only thing not hooked up. EX ecu won't start it but the DX one will.

you can tell by by checking the ecu...
under the passenger dash, there's a rubber green thing that contains 2 blue things.
take the 2 blue things out of the green thing and use a metal paper clip to connect the 2 blue things together..
once connected, turn your key twice (not to start it) and then you should see the engine light start flashing....
long flash = 10
short flash = 1
ex: lf, lf, lf, sf, sf, sf, sf, sf = 35
then go here http://www.hondata.com/techecucodes.html to check what code it is...
like i said before, the ex ecu should work, and the ks shouldnt be causing the ex ecu not to work..
good luck

Does your car try to turn over but won't start?? I know what the problem is, on the the drivers side open harness you need to have a plug that goes in their, it is just a jumper that keeps the car from starting when it is not in, don't know why, just got to your honda dealer and order one.....Thats the problem, not the knock sensor.

Does the plug on the drivers side swap out? The one with all the yellow and black wires does not plug into anything, I think. Atleast on my car it does not. (92 civic). Not sure. Just a sugesstion

OK call me mr. dumbass

when i hooked the ex ecu up before i got a CEL light...didn't start...we disconnected battery and put dx ecu on and it started right up. just went outside and disconnected battery and put ex ecu on then reconnected battery and the bitch started!

those plugs im trying to figure out still.

1 slo ex - the plug on drivers side could it cause my car to die? i was outside revving it and the car died. started right back up but when it died the battery light came on, but that also may be cause my battery is low from it not being charged cause i was usin the radio alot when the car was off and we were installing
