Default How do you know when your fuel pump isnt working properly?

Well i was getting my car ready for hondata so I took off my fmu,missing link,and inline fuel pump and replaced the inline wiht a 255 intank that I have had laying around for a couple months. Once i finished changing eveythign i drove my car around and it wont hold idle and when i go it starts bucking like crazy my A/F is on total lean but i can hear the pump making noisy...any HELP?

Does it prime when you switch the car to the ON position? also, is it possible you made a mistake putting the other stuff back on?
