Default dyno'ed and lost hp with j's intake!!

i have a 96 jdm ITR motor with skunk2 stage 2 cams, skunk2 valvetrain, vafc, dc 4-1 headers, aem cam gears, skunk2 intake manifold, rc 310 injectors, aem cold air, skunk2 full exhaust, msd 6al, skunk2 ecu... with that, i dyno'ed at 185 hp and 120 tq.. wasnt happy with midrange.. so i bought carsound cat, j's intake, Hondata stage 4 (traded Skunk2 ecu), and dc 4-1 JDm headers... re dynoed it... 180 hp with 125 tq... same temperature.. mid range has improved... just for kicks swapped in AEM cold air for final run... made 2 more hp than j's.... j's does give excellent throttle response.... Any comments???

Did you re-tune when you put the J's in, and then re-tune to accomodate the AEM?

I lost a tad of peak HP with the J's, but nothing drastic, barely even noticeable on the graph.

You changed entirely too many things at once to attribute the HP loss to any one mod alone.

AEM cai gets cold air the J's gets hot air. 2 hp is really negligable i think. If you gained more than 2 hp in the midrange i'd say its well worth it. Just curious, but how did your power drop with the hondata? Is that just a base map or did you fine tune it and still lose power?

Ha, I missed the added extra 'changes'. I highly doubt the J's alone is to blame.

According to the post, the only change between the last two runs was the intake, from J's to AEM, and the result was +2 whp.

Run your car 2 times, back to back on the dyno, without any changes, i garuantee you there will be at least a 2 hp deviation between the peak readings .

My final runs was just switching intakes and yes hondata was tuned finely.. at DSR.
I am still keeping j's though... To other people out there, I would save up for V2... Would i make more power with skunk2 stage 1 cams instead of stage 2?? anyone want to trade? lol... Oh and I have a VAFC 4 sale in good condition since I have hondata.

How much time did you wait in between the runs?

Yes they do. So do the products from other countries. I do have to give the throttle response to the shorter intakes though. But I am perfectly happy with my AEM

I would trade 2 peak hp for 5 trq...anyday. Midrange ownz...if you haven't noticed, you are only at peak for a very short period of time (street or racing).

I wonder who would win in a drag race...hmmm.

not a big fan of the cold air intakes, but my AEM that came with my hatch is OK.

with j's intake, the midrange/ hp curve is much 5-10hp better than aem cold air intake. j's intake did not help much on top end. But damn.. still looks like im missing some horsepower somewhere with my setup.. my compression in all cylinders is 210-220. with 11.2 c/r
