b16a valve job?
i recently got my b16a vtec running..runs aweosme but sometimes is pretty loud under the hood..sounds like the valves could be tapping but very minor sound..just wondering if anyones had the same problem before or anything..maybe i should run heavier weight oil..Any suggestions..Thanks
Where do you actually adjust the valves? ie. which screw loosens/tightens the valve. I know how to get the valve into the right position (cam at it's highest position/valve at it's lowest) just not how to actual measure and adjust the clearance itself. I asked this in another thread but I since you guys were talking about it already ...
go get a feeler gauge from sears..I usaully do .007" on both intake and exhaust..make sure you have set the timing at TDC..start w/ cylinder 1..do adjustment on both intake and exhaust..loosen the two intake and two exhaust nuts for the first cylinder..they are the 10 mm nuts on top of the retainers...then insert the feeler gauge in between the cam lob and the lifter..turn the screw in the nut to loosen or tighten the clearance..when you feel a light resistance on the gauge it should be okay to tighten the nut again, but make sure you hold the screw in place while your tightening the nut...once you're done re-check the clearance....repeat the cycle going from cyl. 1 to cyl 3, 4, then 2...don't forget to rotate the crank each time you move to different cylinders..
