Default Can someone give me some kind of idea of how I should tune my VAFC?

My only other mod is an AEM CAI... Making my car basically stock. Does anyone have any reccomendations for fuel mappings for stock ITR's to make a little more power, or anyone know of any good websites that show how to do it?

Thanks!

Here is how my car came: (The previous owner bought the VAFC and some place called Driver's Image in Chicago tuned it.)

Wide Throttle Screen 1

Wide Throttle Screen 2

Narrow Throttle Screen 1

Narrow Throttle Screen 2

VTEC Engagement

V/T unmt

Throttle

Nep: Hvt

Nep: Lvt

Does everything here look right? It's been bugging me recently that the VAFC in my car may or may not have been tuned properly.

Sorry for the semi-blurry pics, I took them in the dark with a flash :X

Wow that was tuned crazy rich. You say the only mod on your car is an AEM CAI? I would get at least a baseline dyno done with a wideband O2 giving an a/f readout to be sure everything is good. Looks nothing like my map but of course every car is different.

Throttle
The reason I started thinking about this is one day I got adventurous and changed these settings to this from what it used to be, which was 20% and 50%. My gas mileage went up from 22mpg to 28mpg...

Dyno that bitch. My guess is a big part of your A/f ratio will be in the 12:1 area for not other reason than "tuning" performed by that shop.

My other guess is the ecu in your car is not stock and then wanted to compensate with the VAFC??? 9000rpm in a "stock" R? Wouldnt fuel cut make that setting pointless?

I am currently using a B16 ecu as a bandaid till I wire up the 98 R ecu. I have my settings cranked up beacuse the maps are for a smaller motor......if your car has an R ecu I dont see why they would richen up the mixture like that....unless....they bumped the timing?

Maybe they bumped the timing and matched more fuel so it wouldnt detonate? 20-22deg timing instead of 16-18?

CHeck your timing and the ecu....there may be more to the puzzle than you think

i'd suggest NOT to tune without wideband O2.

uh ok...your only mod is an intake and you have a VAFC to alter the VTEC engagement point. so if you want to get more low end, you sacrifice your top end and vice versa. i don't really think you'll get much whp gain with an intake and the VAFC mods alone...maybe good for like 5 whp...if that. also, you'll have to go to a dyno to make the most of the 2 mods you have...

Try getting Headers & exhaust plust cam gears and Fuel Press Reg. Then take it to get tuned. You will be satisfied I'm sure.
