Default Need Ground \ Power Wire???? Go here.....

Home Depote is the place for ground/power wire, they sell it by the foot. To give you an idea, 2 guage is like 57c a foot. I was shocked to see this, and pissed that I had spend so much more at the local audio stores all this time. Yes it is copper, insulated wire!
NE way, from running a system to grounding your engine, go to the Depot!

Isn't it welding cable? It gets the job done, but its not as flexible. Running flexible 0awg through a Civic is hell.

I bought speaker wire from lowes and it is ***. I would imagine that home depot will sell the same stuff. The problem is that when it is cold, the jacket isn't flexible. It literally will crack if it is cold enough while you're working with it. While to some people this may be no big deal, it drives me nutts.

welding cable is not the proper cable to use.

if you wouldnt use their speaker wire (lamp cord) why would you use their power wire (welding cable)? yes it is copper but it isnt flexable and the strand count is way lower which limits current flow. at my shop we wont use this stuff when customers bring it to us. will it work yes is it recomended no. most important is that you properly fuse the wire at the battery no matter which wire you use.

Wrong. Strand count has nothing to do with current capacity in DC. This only applies at high-frequency AC when the skin effect is significant. With DC, there is no skin effect, and the only limit to current is the resistance of the wire, which is inversely proportional to the diameter of the wire.

The only reason to use one wire over another for DC power is because of flexibility, which IS governed by the strand count, and also the way it's woven. Have you ever handled Litz wire? That stuff is seriously flexible, but also very expensive.
