Default CAI idea's and Q's

Hey guys, im looking into the idea of making a custom CAI for my Civic. Its got a B20Vtec with a POS generic short ram. Well im getting sick of that... so i drew up some plans, and want to set them into work, but i have a couple questions.

1st. What diameter, and material to make the pipe out of.
-im thinking aluminum, and 3...3.5" with a 3 or 3.5" into 2.5 for the TB.
-whats the difference in diameter? will it REALLY make that much difference between a 3" to 4"; AEM seems to think it will with the new V2 design.

2nd. where should the filter to come out at?
-thinking the left front right behind the vent.

3rd. Ever seen those "Tornado" infomercials? "will get you better gas milage + HP" and blah blah blah... thinking of getting some 1" wide sheets, and twisting them, so it works like the tornado, which "spins the air" just for ***** and giggles
- only worry with that is if the damn thing comes un-welded and gets sucked up into the TB and IM.

Any suggestions, or ideas or comments welcome, and feel free to flame the "tornado" idea

any thing that you put inside the intake wil slow flow down, in other words, "tornado" doesnt work. i guess you could use ABS plastic and heat resistant paint. i would go from 3" to 2.5" good luck

I'd make some sort of cold air ram with a filter that drops into a slot or something.

Say you route some sort of tubing down to the bumper (area of your choice - I chose to cut out part of my 99 civic bumper), and then making some sort of slot to put a filter into. And then creating a heat shield of some sort. probably too much work and an AEM CAI would work better....

thats all you really need, mandrel bent pipe, design it w/the least bends. I installed that heat reflective clothes dryer duct (non insulated) over my entire intake as a heat shield and in summer time it really made a difference, looked ghetto but it worked good.

wow, thats about as close as an exact match i could get with the AEM system, Would this also apply to 3 or 3.5"? same steps, different piping diameter

thanks a lot guys!
