carbon brakes
i found a site that sells carbon rotors and pads for Honda's, they were wicked expensive, $5K for the front...JUST ROTORS AND PADS!! they said the rotors only weighed 3lbs each tho
would carbon rotors work on the street? I know Porsche offers them as an option on the 911T for an extra $4k and says the rotors have a replacement interval of 180K mi

yeah that is a pretty wild price but damn 3lbs each, couple that with some lightweight wheels and you have like next to zero unsprung weight
woudl carbon pds work with standard rotors?
speaking of which what are the best pads on the market for street use?

Probably Axxis Ultimates

Ask Andie at Cobalt about the specfics on using carbon rotors/pads, but from what I've heard, the cold friction coefficient is absolutely horrible. Altho, when they warm up, it's like dropping an anchor out the window.
ATS is the company that makes the carbon rotors/pads.

i dont think any cars have carbon brakes...i think u mean ceramic
i thinkits a option on the new porshe 911 turbo and i think its standard on the gt2 version
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=10156
and the new enzo has 15in ceramic brakes also i think(maybe carbon)
but if u bought the carbon brakes for a civic or something that would be crazy...cept u need to heat them up a lil bit before they start workin hehe

here is what i found out about the enzo's brakes:
"at Ferrari's test track, Benuzzi stretches the new 6.0-liter V-12 to the 8200-rpm rev limiter — exhaust howling — in first, second, third, then fourth gear, and we flash through the left-hand ***** at 150 mph (6800 rpm in fifth). Benuzzi is grinning, knowing what comes next. He hits the brakes, left hand simultaneously tapping the paddle to downshift, revs automatically soaring between each 0.15-second shift. The brakes growl, the 19-inch Bridgestone Scuderia rubber scrambles for grip. The Enzo stays straight, flat. Under the staggering deceleration, our eyes water and our bodies strain against the four-point belts. It's as if some secondary magnetic force were slowing the Ferrari, dragging it into the track surface. Three-lap demonstration over, motion sickness induced, Benuzzi tells us the discs are 25,000 miles old and have been through a series of 200-to-0-mph tests.
These are no ordinary brakes; they're Brembo's new 14.9-inch Carbon-Ceramic Material system, which boasts a significant 27.5-pound weight saving and consistent stopping regardless."

yeah it was ceramic that i was thinking of with the new porsches not carbon, i wonder if ceramic would have the same heat up needs as carbon?
carbon brakes are kinda backwards then normal brakes...they work better when superhot so im sure thier street-ability isnt very good. but they sure look cool tho
hmmm maybe they could make some kind of brake heater system, ya know how like diesel motors have a system of pre heating the air to start it up cold...pre heat the rotors so you can street em, i would think it would be a huge safety increase too with the right tires of course

so an initial 60-0 run would be the same but a #10 60-0 run would be much better obviously, if they provide similar if not equal cold braking but offer superios hot breaking then it sounds like ultimate street brake system
does anyone make a ceramic rotor disc combo for the Integra's?
