Default Humidity 's affect on drag racing...

Can anyone educate me on how different humidity levels outside effect drag racing? Does it affect traction? ET? MPH? Hp? Tq? What would be the ultimate humidity level to go drag racing in? Maybe it is totally irelavant to drag racing. But i swear my car feels slower when it is humid out, So it got me thinking if the humidity affects the power of my motor. Thanks for any comments.

hotter air means less dense air...that equals less oxygen to burn

correct me if I am wrong

thanks for your reply. I was more concerned with the humidity of the air, not the temperature. Im curious how the amount of moisture in the air affects the cars.

H2O doesnt burn well in a motor, humidity is based on the percentage of water molucules vs. the number of oxygen molecules in the air, so if you have 100% humidity, that means there is a 1 to 1 ratio of water to air. try running more timing when its humid...hth

Great, now you are on the right track. Thats exactly the type of content i was looking for in this discussion. THanks for the education.

Now, just how much can this affect performance? Would you notice a differnence on your time slips from say a difference of 100% humidity to 60% humidity? If so, by how much?

Also, How does advancing the timing change how your engine performs in more humid weather? How much would be a good idea to try advancing?

Thanks

ERIK

yes you will notice a difference between 100% and 60%...how much, i honestly couldnt tell you...as far as timing in humid conditions, there is less knock under humid conditions, therefore allowing you to advance the timing, as far as how much it depends how humid it is

What kind of 60'times? So your humidity level there is closer to 100% more often, is that right? Also, just to be sure, puerto rico is really close to sea level correct? Thanks for posting!!

My 60' = 2.45
Yes PR is close to sea level at least in the race track. I'll check the humidity.
BTW we have some good cars like a CRX(H22) no NOS no Turbo, runing 11.8 and I know that this car in US can run 11.5 and street legal Civic (B16) turbo runing 10.7.
