Are the two named dash pads the same? I know that they LOOK the same, but I hate to attempt a swap and have the newer one be a little different. I would be pretty angry. Can anyone tell me if they are the same?

if your talking about the dash itself yes they are. I f*&*ed mine up in my 99 and put a 98 in it...

 

If you are refferring to the center climate control system these are not compatible. The 96-98 climate controls are of the slide lever variety, where as the 99-00 are controllled by dials that use electronics to open and close vents, etc.

If you are reffering the the guage cluster then yes those are compatible.

 

I was refering to the dash pad alone. The a/c controls and everything else will be staying the same.

When I think of pads, something else comes to mind .

Maybe I'm narrow minded...

 

when you remove a dashboard, the unit comes as a whole........then you can remove the vinyl covered pad .

I want to swap just the pad over to my 98 hatch, because mine has blemishes. The pad is just the part that you see when it is installed, the actual dash is a metal frame that the pad bolts onto.

sorry for the mass confusion, I didnt think pad would be that hard to figure out, since it is a vinyl covered <U>padded</U> plastic.

 

I don't think the pad can be replaced. I tried to pull the pad off of a 95 dash and there was no way to replace it. I ended up getting a new dash from the junk yard.
