mechanics
that job is most likely not for the novice mechanic. depends what you think you can do. if all you know how to do is change the oil, etc. then probably not for you, but if you can pull motors and swap axles, or what have you. then you can.
yea everybody has to start somewhere but this is not that place. what these guys are trying to tell you is that you can quickly get over your head if you get into a project like this, not to mention that most mechanics will not tackel a big project like this if it is already halfway done. for fear that you fucked something up that they can't see yet and they will get blamed for it. some very important things that you don't know without pulling the head is if you have damaged a valve seat (they need to be pressed in, which requires special equpiment) your head could possible be physically damaged (warped cracked, which would require further machining) your pistons could quite possibly be scuffed maybe even cracked, and if one of the valve heads broke off you could have possibly eve damaged teh block, pretty much trashing your engine. IMHO not a good place to learn how to work on cars, mos def not without a knowledgable guide. oh yea and all these things are extreme worst case scenerios, don't mean to scare teh **** outta ya.
