Default Distributor Removal & Installation?

Does anyone know how to remove and install a distributor? I have a 97 Integra LS and I think my distributor bearing(s) are bad. I have a Haynes Repair Manual. Some people are explaining to me how to change the distributor. However, it's different from how the Haynes Manual describes it. If you have performed this operation before, please reply with specific procedures on how to remove and install a new distributor properly, thanks!

Try and use a 6 point, not a 12 point boxed end wrench because the dist. bolts tend to be tight and alot of times they will round off. Also you have to unplug the distributor from the harness. I think there are 2 plugs. You might want to label which spark plug wire goes where on the distributor cap, that might make it easier when putting it back together. Also, I hope you know that you will need to retime the engine (with a timing light) after you put the distributor back on. Or you can kind of ghetto it by marking where the position of the distributor is and put it back that way when you reinstall it. Good luck!

Yes, just follow the directions the two guys posted.

Just as an FYI when you put the wires back in:
1) When looking at the motor from the front of the car (facing the Honda logo), the cylinders go from left to right 4-3-2-1.
2) When looking at the distributer from the side of the car (passenger side):
---Lower left is cylinder 1
---Lower right is cylinder 2
---Upper left is cylinder 3
---Upper right is cylinder 4

Easy stuff....good luck.

Why do you think your distributor is going bad in the first place? Is it squeeking or are just getting crappy performance?

also, HAYNES manuals suck- you should get the Helm's
