Default TEIN sus

Hey, I was just checking to see how many luders out here have the TEIN coilover setup (any). I'm looking into getting it... could yall give me the pros/cons of the sus? Greatly appreciated.

What do you plan on using your car for?? I don't think the TEIN is a good suspension if it is your daily driver. More expensive does not always mean better.

A guy I know has an M3 with TC Kline suspension. He thinks it is the greatest thing. It is....if he EVER takes it out on the track. He gets a kick just adjusting it. He has yet to take his car out on the track. I guess he can take the turns fast (but not safer if tuned improperly) when he is going to pick up his lunch from Subway I guess. LOL.

I was wonderign the same thing but when I talked to a driving instructor about suspensions...he recommended not getting the TEIN. He said that it is too difficult of a suspension to tune properly if you are unsure how to tune it correctly. He even said that if I tuned it incorrectly it could make my car handle worse out on the track

He recommended GC or Skunk2's to me.

Just thought I would share.

So true. I have the TEIN HA myself, and it needs tuning... bad. I'd suggest getting some Koni Yellow and H&R Sport springs if you're not a hardcore racer (not that I am, but ... live and learn). It is very stiff on the street, but after half a year, I got used to it ... almost. Again, if you are not willing to tune your coilover system properly, you are seriously better off leaving it stock, or going with the Koni/H&R combo.

Tein SS coilovers arent that hard to tune all you need is a measuring stick and then adjust the hardness, I really like em and the car handles great with them. If your interested in a set I know where you can get them for 875 shipped.

that's why I went with SS, HRs are more for Autocrossing and are a rough ride.

Tein SS (Super Street), it's made for the street and ain't stiff as the other Teins. as for the pro's and con's, i haven't heard of any. boosted97lude found out that it would rust after a long time. as with any non-stainless steel metal, they all rust if you don't properly maintain them. i love the Tein SS on my lude, nice and comfy. don't listen to the other guys, they ain't up to date. you can get them for around $900 and it's worth every penny.

Actually tuning any Fully Adjustable Coilover System is pretty much the same... and it involves a lot of things to consider that I don't even have complete grasp of yet. For example, cornerbalancing is crucial--it cannot be done with a simple measuring stick--and if it is not balanced properly, will handle worse than OE suspension at the limit. Also, the coilover system is designed so you can customize it to handle a certain way at a certain track with a certain tire on a certain surface. Without corner scales or a lot of money, you won't get to fully utilize that potential.
