Default stanky smell

i just got my car back after new brkae pads master/slave clutch cuylander and exhaust repair....anyway when the engine starts to get hot...it starts smellign really bad and i can see where they dripped somhting (i assume its either brake fluid or motor oil(they changed the oil) on the valve cover...its smells really bad....kinda like a dirty....well we wont go itno that, but it smells really bad...how can i clean it off so it wont stink anymore? will it eventually burn off or is there another problem (suchas a leak or somthing) that i shoudl look for?

if something is dripping you better find out what it is. cuz if its brake fluid, motor oil, gas, or coolant, that will be a bigger problem than a nasty smell. Also you mentioned they did exhaust work, new pipes tend to smell like crap but it goes away.

could be. but most of funk smell usually comes from something that comes it contact with the exhaust. get a rag and clean up the valve cover, if the smell is still strong it could be something else...

So they spilled **** on your valve cover and didn't clean it up

this is EXACTLY why I do my own work

you'll know if it was brake fluid, because in a couple of days, it will eat all the paint off the valve cover. otherwise it's probably oil burning off. it's very easy to get oil on the exhaust flexpipe when you change the filter
