Default OBD0-OBD1 conversion worth it? (91 HF w/ Mini me)

Hi,

I was wondering what those of you who have converted your cars to OBD1 think about it. Was it worth the price/hassle? I'm going to be running an A6 block with a Z6 head and I hear the P28s timing and fuel maps are a lot better than the PM6's and a RPM switch...is it worth the $150 for the harness, ~ $100 for the ECU, and ~ $100 for the distributor?

Thanks

I never got a chance to get mine running....but....I thnk its definitely worth it for the piece of mind...that way you dont have like 3 different things all rigged together to operate your engine... like a pm6 ecu, rpm operated switch, and a fields fuel controller....all that is just too much hassle in my opinion...plus, then you have to tune it. if you've got the p28 and harness adapter...its simple plug n play..

Yea convert your OBD0 to the OBD1 and use the P28 ecu it would run more better and you would probably gain a little more horsepower but it will probably take more time putting it all together

I keep seeing people say "it will run better", "It will create more HP". Does anyone have any dyno sheets, proof? A/F reading anything past the butt dyno?

IMHO, the 350 + time could be better spent on other mods.

If it's worth it and someone can prove it, I'll do it.

your best bet is to get an obd0 PR3 ecu with a program that deletes the knock sensor(mugen, etc). Hyperducktuning.com is working on a custom program for the PR3 to run mini-me's, Z6's and Y8's in 4G civic/crx's right now. I currently am using a mugenesque PR3 from Locash in my 89 Crx Si with the Z6 and all i can do is applaud it, as it has ran my car flawlessly and with much success for over 10K miles.(89 CRX Si, 92 Z6, Z6 flywheel/clutch kit, Y8 intake manifold w/ 89 B16A throttle body, 89 B16A fuel pressure regulator, I/H/E, best 1/4 mile 14.9@94 street tires/full interior)

i think its worth it...go for it!!!

i say this because i have a mini-me turbo swap in my EF OBD 0-1 conversion.

i used a p28 ECU with hondata s200 boost. I had to use a slightly modified 96 Civic EX distributor because i couldn't find one to fit exactly if my life depended on it. I mean physically it fit...but the timing was so off...it pinged badly at idle.

Made the obd 0 to obd 1 harness with a buddy of mine... took awhile but got it done and was worth it.

What does it take and how much does it cost to make your own? Anyone have a link for more info.. I tried a search and came up with some wiring diagrams. Do I use the wiring harness off a 92-95 Civic Si/Ex?

try this link, i had this on my favorites list from a while ago but it still works, just keep hitting next and it shows the wiring swap from obd1 on the left and obd0 on th right all with color codes too, not sure of the accuracy but this guy seems to know what he is doing.

actually what i did was made a jumper harness. Used a 88 crx si ecu connectors at one end and the p28 at the other. I actually had to take the male connectors out of the ECU and solder the wires to the correct pins.

If i used the p28 ecu and the obd0-obd1 harness on my a6/y8 mini-me, what dizzy/fuel rail/injectors would I need to run with it?

You will only have to run the OBD1 distributor, 4 wire O2 sensor and the OBd1 ecu. You can run the OBd0 injectors, but you must keep the resistor box.
