Default What Drag Radials to USE??

Just wondering what brand and size D/Rs people reccomend I use? I have a boosted G2 teg with about 220whp, I am not allowed to use slicks unless I get a cage etc So yeah what size and which brand will be good, car weighs about 2300lbs ..... I don't think we can get Nittos in New Zealand so basically and other brand then them. Any help is appreciated.

well the BEST drag raidals in my (opinion) were the Mickey thompson Competiors... Back in the street racing days we would roll on these with a bottle of VHT, or COKE.they only came is 15 inch and if i recall correctly they were 205/50/15. didnt last long on the street but if you want holding power on the tires theres are . now there are BFG,NITTO,TOYO,FALKEN which are also better than the reg tires. its peoples preferences. some people swear by one and some people swear by others..!! TRY MICKEY THOMPSONS.

Falken Azenis are NOT drag radials

BTW...I use BFG's and they hook great.

i used the nitto 245/50/16's and they were ok but you had to really heat them up. I'm trying out the bfg 255/50/16's next.

Why are you using 16s?? Surely thats a big disadvantage..... I am thinking 225/60/14s if they make this size I want to run like 25psi in them and hopefully they will be a bit like slicks

Do they make a 205/45/16 drag radial? I'd like to keep my rims...

A bit OT but would this be a good tire to throw on the back wheels then, or would a different tire be more suited for the job? I'd assume that the stiff sidewall would get the weight off the *** end quicker than running drag radials all the way around.

why would u run drag radials all the way around? unless maybe u r AWD.

as for the azenis on the rear of a FWD i dont think its gonna really help or hurt u. the best tire for the rear would be the lightest one w/ the least amount of drag(smallest contact patch and hardest compound) and stiffest sidewall.

That's my point. So is there a specific tire that has a small contact patch, low drag, and a stiff sidewall that would be beneficial to run? I could just run a pair of Rotas with drag radials and keep my ITR wheels on back, but then people would check to see if I was running drag radials. Therefore I'd drop the extra $250 and get a full set of Rotas to be less conspicuous. Now I have to get two new tires for the back and I would prefer that I bought a tire that would give me the most benefit when launching. Make sense?

yeh thats exactly what im sayin. i just didn't understand why u suggested drag radials for the rear, that would the worst tire u could run. i just run kumho ecsta's 195/50/15 on the rear and inflate them to 40psi. i dont know if it makes much difference but at least they last forever.

I didn't mean to make it sound like that. I understand why you wouldn't put drag radials on the rear tires of a FWD car.

Go with the BFG's. They hook better than the nitto's, but cost more.

Azenis a grippy tires....great for the money...but seriously not meant for drag. Stiff sidewall.
