Im wondering what would be the best non-chipped ecu to use for my Jdm b16a2...i have the ecu that came with the swap and i also have the ecu from my old engine,93 sohc vtec automatic...for some reason the car starts up and idles better with the auto ecu??? is it just me? help me im a noob to the B-series.
I am changing this b/c i can't post...noooob. I was told by my friend who drives a civic si that his mugen ecu improved his 1/4 times...word of mouth. I didn't see it myself.
. I didn't mean to **** anyone off. I am feeling this all out and plan to build a sleeper of my own...no rice.

no such thing as a "jdm b16a2". maybe you mean SiR-II?
if your block says "b16a2".. then its not JDM and you got ripped off.
mugen ecu? for what? it has a lower vtec point, and higher rev limit.. lower vtec point does NOT equate to more power unless his motor is set up and tuned for it. if its stock, then it will do more harm than good.

TRY THE MUGEN...IT REVS TO 9 GRAND THO...MIGHT WANNA BUILD IT OR YOU COULD BREAK SOMETHING
You are running a p30 now correct, I've seen a dyno with a p72 ecu on a b16 is some great increases, however this is kindof hard to believe. More or less it must of been modified as well...
Anyway, the question I'd ask is what do you plan for the engine? Lower vtec engagement, higher rev limit? Are you going to heavily mod your car?

Im eventually planning on turbo sometime this spring...Im just not too familar with the honda ecu's and what one is what (Hey im trying to learn, had the car for awhile just never really into honda performance, i do drive a boosted bimmer though
)...any help is appreciated

Bump for you, I'd like to know a good non-chipped ECU that will work with a turbo...
If I was you I'd just have your ecu rechipped, member Kenji on this board can do it for you, he'll customize it for you..

you're willing to boost your motor? but you're not willing to upgrade your engine management? LOL.
Hondata.

Im goin with Hondata when i do turbo the engine...Im asking what to do for now, i have 2 ecu's, p28 and p30, whats the diff. between the 2?

However the p28 ecu doesn't not have a knock sensor.
But the p30 does, but it also has the duel butterfly engagement (whatever it's called) which will run better for turbo esp. vtec.
If you want to keep knock sensor, go p30...

Ah, they are very simular.

p30 does not have dual butterfly capabilities .
a gsr computer p72 has the capability to run secondary runners.
if it was my car id run the p30. Make sure you wired the knock sensor.
also the p28 does not rev high enuf.
on top of that its an automatic which is a no no.
i believe its cuz it looks for the tranny.

If your going hondata it does not matter p28 or p30 all map and ignition tables are changed.... I am using a p28 with the s100 and it runs great. 12's all day long with a b16 turbo and 450 injectors 9:1

So how would a p72 ecu run on a jdm b16?

Since the b16 dosn't have the secondary butterflys, probably not good. Someone care to carrect me on this?
Stick with the P28. Ditch the P30.
The P28 can be automatic, that's fine, but it will need to be modified/chipped to be a manual.
Talk to "kenji" on the board. He can chip your P28 (or he can sell you one). He has a good custom chip (which ALOT of people on H-T use, including me) that will run the B16 fairly well, although you should probably invest in a vtec/air flow controller, or hondata later on.
