what can a stock g3 GSR beat in the street?
Ever since I got my car (it came with alrezza lights and a red badge), every idiot and their grandma has been driving up to me revving their engines. Today a boneheaded 02 Tiburon drove up to me and paced me. I'm still waiting for my new tires to come in...yokohama avs 100 (it was this or the dunlop sport 5000), got the original michelins and they slip when I rev it to 2k on dry pavement, so I turned up my radio and ignored the ***. Then on my way home, a 97 mustang pulls up and guns his engine. Are we able to take these ***** easily? I'm guessing the mustang should be pie, I rented a 02 GT convertible and that SOB has no power, it felt ridiculously overweight.
Oh yah, what do you think of my choice for tires. Anyone got the yokies? I wanted a wheel that was good in rain too plus not too loud. I dunno how it handles in snow in 45mph driving, but it's cheaper than the Dunlops.

I don't think this is the right forum to be asking this in, but IMO the gsr can hold its own against most of the competition.
you cant beat just about any v6 domestic, it would be close with mustang GT's and v8 camaros would be a loss probably. the new tiburons are fast but for a roll i think you could win...my LS almost got one from a roll (from a stop i think u lost becasue of the high trq in the tib) you can beat most cars that u think u can....its as simple as that
wait is yours stock....well if stock then i dont think u can even beat me
NOW I H E you and do what i said above,****** that is all if u can drive

I can always tell a n00b question from a non-n00b question. Anyways, If you thought the 02 Mustang GT was slow, I'd hate to hear what you think of your stock GS-R in comparison.

i was gonna say the same thing. you'd get owned by a stock '02 Mustang GT.
Not much. Most new v6 snoozer sedans will smoke you. This includes the new v6 altimas, accords, maximas, probably the mazda 6. Mustang Gt's will kick your *** although if they are mid 90's you have a chance. v8 camaros will make you feel as if you are traveling backwards. All BMW's > 325 will beat you (minus the 528). If you see a NEON with srt4 written on it...run. Let's see, oh yeah...WRX = you see tailights. There are even quite a few SUV's that can get you these days. It will beat most of the cars in it's class though. Like the new Si's, the focus SVT, the protege mp3 and maybe the mazdaspeed, mini and mini S, beatle turbos, etc. So you can win a few races but seriously...the GSR is not a fast car. It's fun, handles OK, and gets great mileage and is cheap to maintain. I hope you didn't buy it to drag race unless you have lots of $$$ to make it fast.
he didnt say gt or not.. non-gt is cake. no chance with a gt or better. you can be confident with most any 4 cylinder on the road. certain v6's can take you and stay away from v8 cars smaller than an suv heh.
remember, just because the insurance guys say the gsr is a sports car, i would try not to tout that to anyone else

I'll answer your original question.
These are some cars that can beat a stock GSR:
Stock type r, jetta vr6, celica gts, rsx type s, wrx, mustang gt's, v8 camaros, ford lightning, 350z, dsms, etc etc etc...
The GSR is not the fastest car in the world

Stock GSR's are very slow. Sorry
but you need to do some stuff first before you try racing it. Unless you are talking about the average ricer, then you should be fine.
Oh yeah, lose the altizzis.

well i've taken and won against plenty of V6 accords (coupe and 4dr) and some bmw 3 series (there are so many of them who knows which) when my GSR was stock.
If you are concerned only about drag, you really should get a car with a bigger engine or FI.
You can make a GSR fast in the 1/4 mile, its just much more expensive than buying an equally priced car that has a larger or FI engine stock.

In my GSR I took many a ricer to school. But watch out for the new Spec-v. Ive been edging out stock and slightly modded GSRs at the track with my bone stock Spec-v.
Now that I have my I/H/E installed i should be able to take some of the modded ones.

The only mustang GT's you have a chance against are the convertible 4.6 automatics.

My car would take any stock 4.6L Mustang GT prior to 99, coupe or conv., stick or auto. They were only 220hp
