looking for fast car.... good choice?
Right now I have a 1995 talon TSI awd... Its an automatic (not by my choice) and its pretty fast....
Well, My friend has a 1994 civic ex 5spd and he let me take it one day, and considering he wasn't around, I beat on that thing... and well... I loved it.
There was just something about it... I've always like the way honda civics have looked.. like the 92-95 hatches and the 8?-91 models as well, but I never imagined they were so fun to drive...
Well I have my daily driver, now i need a project car... I have my rice (talon) and now I want a civic of some kind that looks clean and stock..... But can kill in a race.
But here's the thing... I don't have a LOT of cash... So I don't know if i should go 198?-1991, or 92-95. Like I said, I don't have a lot of money... and I don't plan on swapping the engine right away... maybe later but not right away.
I'm not looking for like 200 some hp... just enough to have fun with
I guess I'm just looking for some opinions, so thx in advance.

That's not cool man...
You want to go fast for cheap?? 88-91 Civic HB or CRX. You can get a b16a and parts for swap for under $1400...
If you even cheaper you can do a ZC or SOHC VTEC(EX) swap and have a fun little car...

go single slam in an 88-91 hatch or crx. i have the same motor as your friend does, but in a lighter car that also handles better. before i bought it, the car had a greddy turbo kit on it, and was such a blast to drive
it pulled 14.0's all the time
it pulled 14.0's all the time
Get 1988 Civic STD or DX HB. Anlike later and higher trim HBs, these can be purchased for next to nothing. CRXs are also good. But they tend to be costlier and harder to find. On the other hand, if you can get a light one (1988 HF, 1988 DX, or 1989 HF) for a song, GRAB IT!! Just keep in mind that none of these cars is going to be fast in stock form by any definition of the word. But swaps are VERY easy. And any of these can be converted into a giant killer for next to nothing. For less than $5000 total, you can have a 14 second car!

Dude, I wouldn't trade my ef hatch for anything...I love it. i have a single cam in it thats balanced and blueprinted with 89ls pistons, valve job, and I lose my friends v8 rustang, Definently get an ef...they are cheap, practical, and the list goes on, I love them.

since you dont plan on swapping right away. I suggest a 89 crx si since its lighter than 90-91 and has 5hp more than the 88 which no one ever mentions about 88's. The Si will keep you happy for a lil while. A dx or std or hf will make you say damn I can barely beat SUV's. I know some ******** will be like blah blah HF this and that. Hf is dope if you plan on swaping the day you get the car. The hf gets its light weigh do to the smal hubs and smaller sway bars and no cargo cover interior i believe. the hubs will be replaced when doing a swap and cargo covers are usualy gone on a 14 year old car. But at least the HF is mpfi and the is not. I suggest HF if you plan on swappin within a year since its mpfi and Si if you want swap for a while longer. DX means more wiring and wouldnt be my 1st choice.
any model si is fun! 1.6 non-vtec is fun out of the box....i had a great time with my old d16 motor before the timing belt snapped on me...that motor has just the right gearing to make things fun...i have a b16a now, but if i could go back, i'd go turbo coz it'd rock...and the best thing is, these civics get 30 or more mpg
Get an hf it the lightest one out there, and they are cheaper than the Si's, how much do you have to spend? For the right price you could buy mine
Yeah, get a 88-91 Si. Civic or CRX, they're both great cars. I've got a Civic Si and like people said, i wouldnt trade it for anything! Very fun to drive, handles very nice, and the 88-91 Si were some of the fastest Civics off the showroom ever made. Lightweight (no PS, power locks, power windows, ABS, airbags) so they're great for whatever you want to do with them: drag or auto X. A great overall car
I have 2 90si's. One is a sohc ZC and the other is a b18b. If I could do it all over again, I would have not done the swap, but rather turboed the stock D16a6.
For the money I spent on a swap (2800) I could have easially had a nice turbo setup. My b18b runs a high 14 (crappy headers, crappy exhaust, crappy intake). Personally If you are going to do a swap I suggest it though. Its a lot more fun to drive than the b16 swaps Ive been in. Its got great power down low, and a lot of potental.
But...like I said I'm all about D series power now
