Hasport mounts + type-R swap? Clearance problems?
If I get a set of hasport mounts to install my type-R, will I have any clearance problems? I was told it would hit the hood, but I have recently been told that it would fit ok. Someone has swapped in a GSR into a 4th gen with the hasport kit and it is fine. Any info on this??
Hood clearance should be fine. I'd be worried about how low it will be, i would run a 4-2-1 two pc header to avoid scrapes.
i can promise u that its differnt with every car. i have b16 (not as tall) and it hits my hood. i know this becasue paint is rubbed off of my valvecover.
Which Hasport mounts? My b18c5 rubbed with the old style ones. I had to cut a rib out of the hood and also put 2 small washers under all the mounting bolts to slightly raise it up.
depends on which hasport kit. with the newest one you should clear just fine. an itr motor has a 7mm higher deck height than a b16. same goes for gsr and ls motors.

figured it was a good excuse to go the SiR front end...now my frkkin SiR hood wont close even with the radiator support cos its too far forward...

Which were the old ones and which were the newest one?
Question is, when did hasport change their mounts to make the B18s clear the hood?

It doesn't clear with a gsr motor. I'm using the new billet ones and even with the hood support cut out + washers, my valve cover still rubbs by the timing belt side.
If you really don't want anything of that sort to happen then why not get a jdm front end with a zc hood. That would be my next step. I have a ugly valve cover anyways so it doesn't matter if it rubbs or not. I'll just get a new one or repaint it after the jdm front end conversion.
A friend of mine has a b18c5 in his rex with the hasport billet mounts. It hits the hood pretty good, but in my opinion I would want it too high than too low!! He used several washers, and the hood sits up pretty high in the back, but oh well. My b16a hits the hood a little with my hasport billets. Ryan
PS. There are ways to solve the too high problem(cutting away, sir conversion, washers, exc...), but you cant fix a engine that sits way too low.
