Default Please HELP! Need Advice Quick!

hey guys,

here's the deal. I had my sleeve made at Darton and it has been a nightmare.
I have a f22-b1, the stock bore is a 85mm with a 8.8:1 compression. Darton said it would be two weeks before being made, then 4 weeks, then five and friday they called and told me that they screwed up and bored the sleeve to a 85.5 mm( to big). So now after the machine shop finishes off the sleeves, they will be way to large!

I called race engineer where I originally ordered the wisco 8.8:1 pistons and they said they could return these and get me a pair of 86mm arias pistons. The problem is, they have two different compression rates and I am jugging with which one to go with. They have a 8.2:1 and a 9.5:1 compression. I didn't know if dropping the compression this low would make my car a slug off the line, so I was leaning towards going with the 9.5:1 and running 8-10 lbs of boost, please let me know what you'll think!

Another thing is the price. the wiscos were 369.00 and the arias are 498.00, a 130.00 diffence, what do you guys think is the chance of getting the money from darton for the inconvience?

thanks

shane

Damn I'm sorry to hear that. I've had 8.5 compression before and it was horrible. For 8-10lbs, I'd go with the 9.5 and if you do boost higher, you could always get a slightly thicker headgasket to lower compression a bit. I'd ask Darton to pay the difference and show the receipts to prove it.

I would definately stick with the 9.5:1 compression. If tuned correctly, you could boost alot more then just 8-10 psi on it.

At least have them pay the difference for the pistons, if not also for the inconvenience!! Good luck!

Go with the 9.5:1 pistons and they should pay the difference in price, or have them resleve it with the proper bore.Either way they will end up paying for something.Everybody makes mistakes, but you you shouldn't have to pay for someone elses.

good news guy! darton paid the 130.00 difference for the pistons! But, I think I have another problem. I have a new factory oem head gasket, its bore is 85mm and the new bore is 86mm. will this still work. I was told yes because it is 1mm, very small. What do you think. I hope so, cause if not i'm SOL. its hard enought to find parts for my car, much less a custom head gasket. please let me know
