Default low compression pistons bogging??

When I did my rebuild everyone was on the "super low compression rules" thing. I ended up getting very low compression pistons (I think 8:1). I guess my question is, how much will that affect my performance compared to stock compression? its a d16y7 motor. People running the same boost (10psi) on the same motor with stock compression walk on me all day long. I'm not a horrible driver and traction isnt an issue. Do you guys think this could be my problem? Would stock compression be worth it?

Just raise the boost, that's why you went with such low compression, isn't it?

In any event same car, same boost levels but different compression with all other variables the same, the one with higher compression will walk on you all day and night.

If he has race gas at the time

But yea, I am going with 10:1 compression. Just dont skimp on the tuning.

TURN UP THE BOOST!!!

I have 8:1 on my D-series and i love it.

Damn bro i run 20psi on pump gas. DAILY!!!

Didnt you go low comp. so you could make the turbo do the work?

10psi on a 8:1 motor isnt ****. you should at least be runing 15-18psi all day long.

Turn it up!!

remember for drivablity on the street you can add alot more timing down low since you dont have the comp, working for you anymore.

(this made a big improvement for me)

My friend put Z6 pistons in his D16A6 ( 8.4/1 comp. ) and he says he can tell a big difference in sound and performance. Stupid enough, he has a FMU so he is limited to 8ish psi either way..
He says the car sounds a lot deeper.
I used a D16Z6 block with A6 head to get 8.4/1 compression, but I have to do some little things before I can drive it. I plan on 8psi with the TD04L-13G, then 11psi with the 60-trim sitting in my closet..
Onlt reason I wounld run more than 11psi is b/c that's the AFC-hack/ghettodyne limit on the MAP sensor..
I'm hoping for around 250whp with stock internals..

SO TURN THE DAMN BOOST UP ALREADY !!!
