a/f gauge = pretty lights, basically a rich lean meter. black and white

wide band sensors give you an accurate reading of the a/f mixture.
thats what i use

it reads from its own sensor which you have to place in the exhaust like your stock
oxygen sensor

The two most common around here are the TechEdge unit, and the one from FJO...

they sell them in U.S. and they run close to or over $1000.. good to have, yet, not necessary.. you need wideband when tuning the car, regular (narroband) meter is pretty much useless in my opinion, no matter what brand.

the more hp you make, the more need you might find for one of these.. - Australian kit is more reasonably priced and its already assembled, theres one DIY in U.S for much less money, but you have to do more assembly..

The Autometer A/F Guage really doesn't work. I guess it looks cool though ......
The Aussy DIY Wideband is a really nice unit. Customer service is great. It only took 4 or 5 days to receive my Wideband O2 sensor when I ordered it back in May.

I have the Techedge intergrated into my AEM EMS and the two combined can do DataLogging as well as Automatic Fuel Mapping. Which has made tuning on the fly real easy.

Does it have a wideband sensor? If not, it's still unreliable for tuning.

As long as the car is tuned well, an a/f gauge is basically useless. That's all.

[edit]
As sgt (and many others!) have already said: an a/f gauge without a wideband is just pretty lights.

Correct me if I am wrong but the DEFI uses the stock O2 sensor, therefore it will not work very well either. The stock O2 sensor has three basic readings Rich, stoich and lean and isn't very accurate. So instead of flashing lights you get a needle that just bounces around aimlessly. An AF guage is really useless.

An in-car wideband O2 is also pretty useless in a mild to moderately modded car especially without a stand alone tuning device.
