Default safe boost on an ls

i have a 96 rs w/ a garrett t3. Pretty much everything stock on fuel except vortech fmu. How much boost can i run and be totally safe and not have to worry about anything. I'm at 8 right now is this good, high or low?

do you have a fuel pump? inline pump?

I would NEVER use an FMU without a fuel pump.

from my experience, the fmu isnt too good of a thing to use.. because it force ur stock pump to much, and when it fail's u wont get the fuel and bang, ur done.. although i ran a stock ls with the same set-up u have at 9psi, and it ran for about 2 years, and i drove it from nyc to boston like 5 times, and beat on it everyday.. but than the fuel pump did go and so did the motor.. just watch the fuel pump.. and if u can afford it, upgrade it, and get a boost dependant adjustable fuel regulator.

"Turbo-$425
Manifold-$300
Intercooler-$200
Boostin at 10 psi. and loving it.....priceless"

not to be an ***, but you didnt buy the turbo, manifold, or intercooler... and you arent running 10 psi...

just messin with you andrew, you might want to either install the fuel pump or get some 450's

You really should install that inline pump - you're asking for trouble if you don't.
But if it makes you feel any better, I'm running 7-8psi daily on my LS with a 12:1 FMU and inline pump, without any trouble whatsoever.
FMU's are never an ideal fuel system, but they're a good stepping stone to a standalone

yeah, i think you're running closer to 8psi Andrew. I just happen to have done some research on Honda-Tech for safe boost levels with different setups BEFORE I turbo'd and BEFORE I sold you my car. 8psi is fine in my old car. Don't worry.
