thanks for all of you help.

I flushed the system, till clear water came out.

I flushed the radiator, tilll clear water came out.

I do have one concern though. If you could please take 5 seconds to look at this short (5 second) low resolution video i too, I would appreciate it.

Here is one of the most ambigious pictures ever. IT shows a bubble in my coolant reservoir. These bubbles only happen until the fan turns on, once that turns on, the bubbles stop.



Is this boiling, or air in the system? The bubbles are only coming out of the bottom of the hose...

the bubble is there because you still have air in the lines. When you add the coolent it's very important to use a funnel that hold pressure as well. Have the funnel over filled and have the car at a steady 3500rpm approximatly. The reason why is because this assure you that all the air is out the system. I hope this makes since. I had mine reflushed when hondamotive put my radiator in.......(i can put my own radiator in he just did me a favor for the future so his mechanics did it)and that's the way they did it. get the extra air out the system

 

Well hehe the coolant is already in...Cant I just run the car with the cap off?

 

i know that im talking about when it was filled. It's called hot-spots.

 

yeah, thats what i did....open it up (when the coolant is col cold) and start the car....then pull on the the throttle cable on and off and hold it around 3000-4000 untill you get no more bubble. bubbles will def. make you overheat.

Thanks for the advice. Why does it only bubble off right before the fan goes on? Is that because the radiator cap is just then opening, and letting air/coolant into the overflow?

So I guess if the radiator cap is off, then any bubbles will come out....even if the car isnt hot, correct?

(B18EG6) man, people make **** difficult.. what you do is put water in the car... take off the radiator cap, run the car with the HEAT on, and AC on for about 5-10 minutes until no more bubbles come up... easy as that... put the cap back on and your set....

 

Well...You have to wait for the fan to come on, dont you? That means the thermostat opened, and any air in the remaining system will be released.

The only reason Im trying ot get so much advice, and hear everyone is because..

Last time I did this. Filled my system, had the air come out the bleed bolt by the top water neck. Took the rad cap off, let the car idle for about 10 minutes, and (thought) I got all the air out.

Then it blew the top off the coolant reservoir the next day, and i lost all my coolant again and overheated.

 

ya, however long that takes... what i do is fill the system, grab the bottom hose and squeeze till air bubbles stop coming out, then the top hose... let it run for a bit with the cap off squeezing the hoses to make sure there is no air.. NEVER had a problem.. its what all the mechanics do at my work here also...

alrighty...I think i did it correctly now.

50/50 coolant/distilled water.

I filled the radiator up, till coolant came out the bleed bolt.

Started the car, as it warmed up I squeezed the air out of the hoses...I filled the system even more with coolant (needed like 1/4 gallon more!), squeezed even more.

Waited for the fan to turn on twice...squeezed more air out. I had a funnel on top of the radiator, and I noticed right before the fan turned on, the water level surged in the funnel. I guess this was the thermostat opening, and no air came out! SO I think I did it.

We will soon find out if i have even more air in the system.

i never knew it was so complicated. did an engine swap. drained the whole works, filled up the rad. drove away.

no bubbles.. dont that twice now.
