safe to paint rubber moldings?

Default safe to paint rubber moldings?

like the topic says...i have a 90 crx si, and the body shop im going to get it painted at said it might not stick very well to the side moldings. have any of you guys painted over your moldings? what about the side mirrors and the front bumper lip?

ive seen it done countless times............ but im not sure how they prep it before they paint it..

clean it with a PPG or Dupont grease/wax remover. And use a paint with a flex additive. Otherwise it will chip easily.

I used Bulldog Adhesion Promoter, it worked pretty good.

how did you paint them though. Of course it looks nice. Looks beter on 90% of the cars on the road to have the moldings painted

I used Bulldog Adhesion Promoter, it worked pretty good.


That stuff works as a flex additive too, when mixed in with the paint.

NEVER use wax and grease remover on plastics. Instead we use plastic prep (cleaners and sometimes plastic sealers).
