Uh oh, injector problem
I just opened my DSM 450s today after having them cleaned and all that jazz, and one of those plastic caps on the end opposite the connector is cracked and the thing is close to falling off. Those are supposed to stay on when you install them, right? I mean they're not just to protect them during shipping or anything? Can't remember, been a while since I looked at my injectors
Sorry man, the cap on your injectors look like they are more part of the injector than the one I showed ya.
Does the cap come off easily? I have never dealt with a DSM injector......someone has to know.

Hmmm...I'd look look for a new injector...try to see if you can get a single or maybe take it to Mitsubishi to see if there is a replacement cap for that....it may affect the spray pattern without it

Yeah, they come off pretty easy. If they are part of the injector, they were replaced by Mike when he cleaned them because I think I remember them being there, but they were gray or something. Well this sucks ***...at least I noticed today instead of when I was ready to install them.
that's just the pintle caps..and they're there for protection only. It doesn't have anything to do with the spray pattern. And it's fine to use them. Just remove the caps so they dont' fall into the engine.
That's what controls the actual spray diameter if it's like the ford injectors. Ford's are swappable so you can change the size of your spray pattern.
explain your THEORY please ?

Not a theory it's how they are assembled.
You can change the ends on the injectors to control whether you have single wide spray; dual narrow spray; etc... The parts inter-change on them.
How do you think they balance and blueprint them? It's not some black art that only the "RC" magicians can procure.
Take that Stan

the design of a pintle tip control the shape of the actual spray pattern genius...that plastic cover is just to protect the pintle tip itself

Haha. 0wn3d.
i wondered the same thing when i first broke one off.. hooked it up to a fuel line, applied some pressure.. man that sucked. fuel didn't have much of a spray pattern. lol.

it's called a pintle cap as someone stated earlier.
just replace that one, it's not expensive
mike will send you a new one for like $1 if i remember correctly, or just go to a mitsubishi dealer and ask for one

Not really Ow3ned children. I was describing how the Ford injectors I have are not how his are. Mine don't have that little plastic tip they have an aluminum tip shaped the same way except it's actually attached farther up the injector. Reda my post dick you'd see I was making a suggestion.
No need to be an Azz-hole.

I have the same injectors! Mine did the same thing. Mine are in the car and have been for 6 month. I have had no problems. That caps do not effect the spray like the other member mentioned!
that happened to some of my injectors in the past, the pintle cap/spray thing cracked. i just got my those injectors back from Mike Palm. he not only cleaned them but replaced the 2 broken caps too.
i don't think he's doing any more cleaning for awhile but he may be able to get you the caps if you can't find them anywhere else.
