Default Electronic Assisting with Turbo spool

friend showed me this. Interesting.

Searched already for similiar topics but didn't find any.
I want to call it crap since it runs off battery power and the idea's simple. Senses off throttle position and can regulate the turbine spool eliminating the need for a wastegate. That's kinda cool but sounds like it would effect the life of the turbo.

Anyways, any experience or information on this?

Why would you want to slow down the turbine with a "braking system" of sorts? Seems like a waste of money. Modern turbos should be able to spool up quickly. Besides with the compression diesels run spool up isn't an issue, but I think it's more aimed towards us. If the keep making it so complex it's not going to be efficient anymore.

There's a guy on this board that worked on the R&D for these, i spoke with him a while ago. Basicly they are only planed for big turbos like those on large desiel's, and some buses.
Dont expect anything like this for our cars anytime soon.
