Its a stock OEM Honda Starter.
There is a good power and ground connection.
I researched the issue a little further and I see that there is a recall on the ignition switches on the 1997 Accords.

More info can be found here.

I had this issue on a Mitsu and it was the ignition switch.

The only true way to find out if an engine is bad is to a compression test. Now you want to test the compression while starting, and while running to. Now as i recall an engine runs with about 40 to 70 p.s.i. and when starting about double to triple the p.s.i. :

are you on crack? never would i think it would be that. he said he push started it so it runs just fine.....damn, why do you havet o make it so complicated, try the simple stuff first. probably ignition switch (since there was a recall) or it could be the starter....my 2 first guesses.

if the connections are good and the problem persists, try hitting the starter with your tire iron or something. when mine started to go bad it would lock up and when i turned the key i heard nothing. hit it to free it and give it a try.

This is what happens if a ignition switch is bad.
you turn the key, and the car starts. But it dies
when you let the key back. The car will run as long
as you hold the dey in between the star and run position.
